Loving My New Summer Foundation…

I recently used the last of my Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24H foundation (absolutely LOVE this stuff), which couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. Summer is literally around the corner and I  need a good summer foundation. I always go for a light weight, build-able coverage foundation during this time; no one wants to wear heavy makeup in 90 degree weather. So of course, I search my favorite YouTube gurus to see what new products are out and I immediately discover Cover FX.

Cover Fx

Cover FX is a brand free of parabens, fragrance, gluten, mineral oil and talc, and even claims to improve the appearance of your skin over time. Since I have sensitive skin that is prone to break outs and with mild Rosacea, this rang music to my ears (HALLELUJAH!). I was more attracted to this brand because they offered such a broad range of foundation colors to choose from, 25 to be precise. I love supporting companies like this, because we all know it is nearly impossible to find your right foundation shade with only 10 colors to choose from.

So I headed over to Sephora to test the products in person and decided to go with the Custom Cover Drops. This product is actually not a foundation, but a pigment that you mix with your moisturizer or primer (whichever you prefer). I first tried mixing the product with my Jason Aloe Vera gel moisturizer and wasn’t too fond of the finish. My face usually gets oily in my T-zone area throughout the day and this method didn’t seem to help. So, I decided to try mixing the Custom Cover Drops with the Cover FX Mattifying Primer and applied on top of my moisturizer. This method worked wonders for my face. The finish was very natural and stayed in place all day. I apply this product with my Mac 130 brush and it glides on my face, blending flawlessly. On average I use about 2 drops of the pigment, 3 if I need a little more coverage, and it literally feels like I have no makeup on. There is also very minimal color transfer, which is a definite plus in my book!

The price of the Customer Cover Drops and the Mattifying Primer are a bit pricey, but it is definitely worth the investment.
